Cell phone saves mans life

By: Web Staff

GELNMONT, N.Y. -- A Glenmont man can thank his cell phone for saving his life this weekend. Police say the man was driving on Wimple road, when he swerved to avoid an animal. He lost control, and his car rolled down an embankment, landing on its roof. Police say he managed to call for help.

"Cell phone played a big part, because the location of the vehicle. If this was any other time of the day or night, it was hard to see the vehicle, and luckily enough, he wasn't injured too bad that he was able to make the phone call,” said William Borgor, Selkirk District FD Chief.

Rescuers say it took about 20 minutes and they had to use the "jaws" to get the driver out of the car. He wasn't seriously hurt, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
