Police continue to follow up on leads in Bailey investigation
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Since the emotional press conference Monday with the parents of murdered UAlbany student Richard Bailey, along with the release of surveillance images taken the night of the shooting, police said they're following up on a number of new leads.
The Albany Police Department is not releasing many details about the information they've received, but they said the information does paint a better picture of what happened the night of Oct. 20 when Bailey was shot while walking home on South Lake Avenue. They said the information is also helping investigators discount leads so they can better focus their investigation.

Albany Public Safety Spokesman James Miller said the public coming forward with information is crucial in this case.
"The entire community, obviously, was hit with this murder," said Miller. "It had an impact on the colleges, on that neighborhood. I think people are looking for progress. They want to see people personally responsible for this caught. I think keeping it in the forefront, keeping it in the news is helpful keeping it fresh in people's minds."
Police are still looking to identify and interview a man seen on surveillance video riding a bike in the area the night of the shooting. The video was taken from a business on Madison Avenue. The man is not a suspect, but police would like to speak with him.
There is no information yet on a motive, how many suspects the police may be dealing with, or if gang activity was involved.
