Program helps Berkshire County residents quit smoking

BERKSHIRE COUNTY -- It may be a little early for a New Year's resolution, but a new program called the Great American Smokeout may be all the incentive you need, anytime of the year.

The American Cancer Society has teamed with a local health group in North Adams to offer this Great American Smokeout. It's designed to get smokers to kick the habit by giving some simple facts.

There's an online calculator they use that tells you how many cigarettes you're smoking and how much money you're spending on them over the course of a year. There are also some tips and tools on quitting to make it as stress-free as possible.

So if you live in Berkshire County and you want to quit, you can go to the lobby at North Adams Regional Hospital from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to get the ball rolling.
