SCOTIA, N.Y. -- An Air National Guard team stationed in Scotia evacuates an injured Australian researcher from a remote Antarctic base. The ski-equipped LC-130 Hercules cargo plane flew a joint American-Australian medical team into Davis Station on Monday.

The researcher had suffered multiple fractures in an ATV accident. He's currently in stable condition at an Australian hospital.

The Scotia unit is the only unit in the Air Force that operates the aircraft which can land on snow and ice.
