Paterson call for more budget cuts
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Governor David Paterson is calculating how the nation's economy will affect the state budget. At a leaders meeting in New York City Friday, Paterson said he's calling lawmakers back next month to make $2 billion in cuts. He initially asked for $600 million in cuts in August.
"Well I don't want to hear cut proposals that wouldn't take effect for three or four years, because of intervening litigation or other types of problems. We have to cut the budget right now," Paterson said.
