Where's the cheapest gas in the Capital Region?
SCHENECTADY COUNTY -- "This is terrific," said Lynn Gates of Buffalo.
Matt Samko of Amsterdam said, "Hopefully it keeps going down, you know?
"It's cheaper down here than where I live," said Alice McCarthy of Fort Edward.
Who would of thought we'd get so excited about gas costing $3.60 per gallon. But as prices continue to remain under that painful $4 per gallon mark, no doubt we'll all keep celebrating.
Prices may be down, but drivers are still seeking the best price in town. We all know how it works. Prices vary greatly from county to county, city to city, even corner to corner. But if you live in the Capital Region, right now your best bet is Schenectady County.
Matt Samko of Amsterdam said, "I live in Amsterdam. Right here is the best price I've seen at $3.61. Amsterdam is $3.70. I'm wasting more gas driving around trying to save a penny. I found this place, maybe I'll have to relocate out here."

Lynn Gates of Buffalo said, "I think this station has really good prices. In Buffalo it's $3.99, and that's the cheapest. I shop around. The lower one is right near where I live."
Unfortunately, according to AAA, New York State prices remain more expensive than the national average. The average price for regular in New York stands at $3.94. Nationally it's 20 cents cheaper at $3.74 per gallon. Long gone are the days of one year ago, when a gallon of regular averaged $2.97 here in New York.
