Electric RC Model Airplane Show

By: Web Staff

GLENVILLE, N.Y. -- Miniature planes took off into the skies in time for the Electric RC Model Airplane Show at Glenville's Maalwyck Park.

The free public event is the area's only Radio Control model airplane show, courtesy of the Electric Powered Aeromodelers organization. Organizers say this show is the only place where you'll find electric powered RC model planes of all models from slow flyers to gliders and scales. Builders and pilots from all over the region showed off their latest high-tech and quiet electric powered models.

The Ed Buell, the Vice President of the Electric Powered Aeromodelers, says it is a big event for the club each year.

"It's a lot of fun. We have about 50 members in the club. Some young, the youngest is about 6six-year-old. And the oldest is probably well into his 70s. We have a lot of fun, get together. While we're here on the weekends, we have a cookout. We just have a lot of fun together," said Buell.

About 25 pilots were registered for the weekend's event. All 75 of the model airplanes in the skies were electric powered.
