By: Web Staff

TROY, N.Y. -- Troy police continue their investigation into the brutal death of a cat whose remains were found in a bag in the Hudson River a month ago.

A man found the yellow luggage bag in shallow water near Madison Street in Troy on June 8 and immediately notified police. An exam found the short-haired brown classic tabby was tortured and mutilated then thrown in the water along with three bricks in the bag.

Det. Sgt. David Dean said the department is following up on some credible leads in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Troy Police Detective Bureau at 270-4426.

Meanwhile, the New York State Humane Association and the United States Humane Society are offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone who'd like to donate to the reward fund can contact either group.
