Nassau man arrested after chase through Rensselaer Co.
RENSSELAER COUNTY -- A Nassau man is facing charges after police said he led officers on a chase through Rensselaer County in a stolen vehicle and hit a patrol car.
Joseph Flores, 25, is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, along with several other charges.
A North Greenbush police officer spotted a pickup truck in Wynantskill that had been reported stolen from the Albany area. Officers attempted to pull the truck over on State Route 150, but it took off toward Sand Lake.
When deputies from the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office approached the entrance to the 43 Mall, police said Flores slammed the pickup truck into the side of a sheriff's patrol unit.
The truck continued on Route 150 again, but it veered off the road as it entered Route 66 and hit a tree near the Stewart's in Wynantskill.
Police said Flores took off running, but he was quickly taken into custody by officers.
The deputies who were in the patrol unit were not seriously injured. They have been treated and released. Flores was also treated for minor injuries.
He was arraigned and sent to Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
