NEW YORK STATE -- Just days after stirring up controversy with a cross-party endorsement in the 23rd Congressional race, Republican Dede Scozzafava has resigned from her leadership position within the Assembly.
Scozzafava had served as the Conference's Leader Pro Tempore. However, Monday night, it was announced that she would step down from that position.
Scozzafava remains in charge of the 122nd Assembly District, representing parts of Lewis, Oswego, St. Lawrence and Jefferson counties.
Assembly leaders say they will determine who fills the Pro Tempore position, leading Assembly floor debates, in the coming weeks.
