CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- Couples of all ages and stages got a chance to re commit and start all over again. Hundreds renewed their wedding vows at the Northway Church as a symbol of true love and hope. They held hands, some even cried.
“This helps you look into each other’s eyes and see each other’s souls", said Barb Button.
The event is the conclusion of a five week series held at the church called Relational Rehab. The purpose of the series is to fight the national divorce statistics and to teach everyone that any relationship can be fixed.
" A commitment is a daily thing, am I going to stay true , am I going to be true to this person , am I going to be true to what I pledged", said Northway Church Pastor Buddy Cremeans.
Stan and Barb Button have been married for 38 years. They shared with us the secret for their success.
“Laughter in the home is critical, we always try to not take ourselves too seriously try to be open and forgiving to one another", said Button.
Renewing wedding vows is not only for couples who have been married for decades but those who recently tied the knot are also taking part.
"Why did you guys decide to renew your vows after four months"?
“It’s never too early or too late for a restart , we can do it again and again and again and I wanted him to know that", said Tammy Lindgaard.
Whether its been 40 years, four months, or two days, members here at Northway say the purpose for the ceremony is to remind folks that there is always room for a second chance.
