Bottle bill to add deposit for water and juice

By: Web Staff

NEW YORK STATE -- A proposed bill might have you thinking twice before you toss your water bottle out in the trash.

The Bigger Better Bottle Bill would let you return juice, water and non-carbonated beverage bottles for a five cent refund. The bill is aimed to reduce litter and save taxpayers money by recycling old bottles.

"There's no nickel deposit on this. So there's no incentive for whoever threw this trash out in this park to keep it," said New York State Agriculture Commissioner Pat Hooker.
