Watervliet Arsenal may rent space to businesses

By: Web Staff

WATERVLIET, N.Y. -- There's a renewed push to bring high-tech business to the Watervliet Arsenal.

Congressman Mike McNulty and Senator Chuck Schumer toured the campus today with U.S. Army General Pete Geren.

There is plan on the table to let private businesses use vacant space at the Arsenal. Our cameras weren't allowed inside for the tour, but we spoke with lawmakers afterward. With more businesses pledging to come to the region, they said this is a good day for the Capital Region.

Senator Schumer said, "We have jobs that need space, rather than space that needs jobs."

Senator Schumer went on to say that there is no shortage of companies that are interested in moving in to the space. Arsenal leaders are now trying to find out what legal steps they need to take in order to partner with private companies.
