ALBANY, N.Y. -- Gays and lesbians rallied in Albany to keep the push on for equal rights in the workplace and to legalize gay marriage.

Over 1,300 lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transsexual New Yorkers converged on the capitol to get their point across. Organizers say all people should be treated equally.

"As gay and lesbian people, they're denied 1,324 rights and responsibilities because they can't get a marriage license and as transgender people, they could be fired from their job, or kicked out of their home, just because they were born in one body, but everything about them says there's something else," said Alan VanCpelle, Executive Director of the Empire State Pride Agenda.

The group feels progress has made, but a lot more can be done to beef up protections and rights and keep LGBT people safe from harassment and discrimination.
