Troy Booster Club hosts five-hour monopoly tournament

By: Web Staff

TROY, N.Y. -- Don't forget to collect your $200 after passing go. The Troy Booster Club hosted a five hour monopoly tournament at RPI to help raise funds for various student clubs and athletic teams.

Members asked sponsors to contribute dollars to each table and approached all the local developers. The not-for-profit organization came about in 2003 when a wide budget crisis eliminated a variety of sports and clubs at Doyle Middle School and Troy High School.
Through the hard work of parents, students and staff, those board cuts have thankfully not be repeated.

“We are actually a group of concerned parents who got together in 2003 to raise money for budget cuts that happened way back when," said Eugene St. John, Vice President of the Booster Club. "This is one of our fundraisers that we do each year to raise money for the kids and organizations.”

The highest six scores will play each other in a championship round. The first place winners will receive $100 in cash and second place winners will receive $50.
