Norovirus to blame for outbreak

By: Web Staff

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- The Department of Health has concluded its investigation into the outbreak of illnesses at The Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Waterpark. The department has concluded that the illness was in fact a norovirus.

The department also said that less than ten new cases have been reported in the past four days, and the spread of the illness is declining.

The report did not determine the origin of the virus, but both drinking water and water in the park has been tested. Both came back negative for bacteria.

“The recent Department of Health report of ten G-I illnesses over the last four days is likely indicative of the general level of illness in the community at large, and is not exclusive to the situation at the Great Escape Lodge,” said Dr. Marc Tack, an infectious disease specialist.
