SCHODACK, N.Y. -- State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Route 20 in the Town of Schodack.

State Police said an officer from the Nassau Police Department saw two vehicles, a KIA and a Jeep Cherokee, traveling through the village without license plates. When he attempted to pull them over, both vehicles took off. The officer then witnessed the KIA lose control and hit an oncoming car head-on. The KIA burst into flames.

The driver of the KIA was pronounced dead at the scene. The two people in the other car, Cara Warner, 21, and Danielle Hilton, 21, both of Nassau, were taken to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Jeep Cherokee continued westbound on Route 20. State Police have determined that both vehicles had been stolen from the New Lebanon area that day.

The drivers of the KIA and the Jeep Cherokee have not been identified yet. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at Schodack at (518) 732-4644.
