Troy shooting victim dies at hospital

TROY, N.Y. -- The victim from Tuesday night's shooting in Troy has died.

Troy police said Jimmy Chapman, 29, was shot in the head at Harrison and Second streets around 8 p.m. Tuesday. He died at Albany Medical Center at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said there is no suspect information available at this time, but leads are being pursued.

Statement from Mayor Harry Tutunjian:

"I want to reassure city residents that my attention and that of the Troy Police is focused on preventing any more crimes or tragedies such as last night's homicide," said Mayor Harry Tutunjian. "As an administration and as a community, we will not cede control of our streets to thugs. I urge anyone with who thinks they might have information about the crime to contact the Troy police immediately."
