COLONIE, N.Y. -- A man is dead after a pickup truck burst into flames in a Colonie driveway Wednesday.
Neighbors called 911 shortly after 7 a.m. to report hearing a loud explosion. But police said it appears the vehicle had been set on fire and what they heard could have been secondary explosions, like tires popping.
Police said a woman who lived in the house and neighbors were unable to pull the man from the burning truck.
Colonie Police Lt. Robert Winn said, "The female from the house, an adult female did attempt to get the person out of the vehicle, in the driveway, that was on fire. She was overcome by smoke. She's been transported to Albany Medical Center hospital and is expected to be okay. At this time that's all we can release."
A positive identification of the victim is expected soon.
