NEW YORK STATE -- Heather Morrealle, a mom of three who's on her third crib, says she took safety for granted when she shopped for the first two.

"It's supposed to be made to be safe," Morrealle said.

But after four infant deaths and a massive recall of drop side cribs, parents are now second guessing their crib purchases.

"I never had a problem, never thought twice about worrying that something happen to the baby," Morrealle said.

"If you didn't want to use that crib anymore, we could find you something that you could feel safer and more comfortable with. We haven't been alerted by any of our manufactures that anything we carry has been recalled," said Kevin Vanderwarker, Huck Finn Sales Manager.

An alternative to the drop side crib is a drop gate crib. The difference is only part of drops down and a nice safety feature is that little fingers can't get pinched here.

"The drop gate crib has come out and replaced the drop side crib. It still gives parents the ability to lower the gate to make for easier access into the crib," Vanderwarker said.

Morrealle says price and design were the only two things on her mind when she bought her first two cribs,
but now there's one more thing.

"I think it's scary for mothers to have to worry about buying a crib and not worrying if something is going to happen to their baby," Morrealle said.

The recalled cribs are made by Stork Craft. The company says parents with the cribs should stop using them until they receive a free repair kit.
